We Distribute Update (Good News!)

(Grumpy old man alert)

So @squirrel has been waiting (im)patiently for a package to arrive from DHL "Express". On the tracking page it says:

"No need to call Customer Service – our online results give you real-time, detailed progress as your shipment speeds through the DHL network."

It has been sitting in their Cincinnati sort facility for FIVE DAYS.

"Speeds through the DHL network" eh?

"Express" my ass.

is so random in the best way.

First I listen to @snowdusk_ do the always entertaining Intergalactic Wasabi Mix. That was followed by OpenVoIP where the topic of conversation was the pursuit of the perfect stuffed peppers for dinner...

Then suddenly Debby Boone was singing "You Light Up My Life"...

Something super mild just in case the last couple of hours were too spicy for you πŸ˜‚

I know a guy who is like a young doppelganger of Richard O'Brien and a few times I called him "Riff Raff" and it went completely over his head cuz he was too young and sheltered at the time :blobcheeky:

Don't hurt her, Frankenfurter

Nothing rhymes like RHPS!

My mum had an electric carving knife exactly. like. that. one.

Shortly will be presenting Rocky Horror Picture Show so heads up there will be a lot of chatter about it if you follow me.

If that sounds like your thing follow the hashtag...if you're a stick in the mud you might want to filter it for the next couple hours :blobtonguewink:

Also, do you ever notice these corporate parasites have instant, efficient processes to charge your credit card, but to get refunds takes several days? When I cancelled ADT last year, not only did it take around 2 weeks to get a refund for the unused portion of the billing cycle, it could only be issued as a paper cheque via snail mail. Seriously. Like it was the 1988 not 2018.

Which is absolute BS. I've worked with payment processors enough to know issuing refunds is technically trivial.

So SiriusXM is one of those gross service-provider companies of the same kind as ADT security and satellite TV providers such that..

How to buy/subscribe to paid services: mail/telephone/online/carrier pidgeon/etc, 24/7/365

Renewal: automatic by default, notice of renewal only given once, in a paper letter via snail mail.

To cancel service or stop auto renew: only by phone. Only between hours X and Y and not on Sunday. Must listen to 15 minute sales pitch.

Eff off SiriusXM 🀬

Torchinsky's system for doing Jalopnik stories looks delightful. I think I may downgrade to Kinja myself, the workflow is much simpler.

It's not all modern high tech like @ajroach42 would set up but hey, it does everything I'd ever need it for!
