My mind just had a kernel panic!
Another good #WeAreNameless thanks!
STEM could use a faster SSD
Wow is THIS ever relevant these days
Sudo shutdown -h
Isn't it funny how within 24h the approach to #Keybase changed from "it's secure and awesomesauce, use it for everything!!1!" to "I just use it to share stuff but warn users not to do sensitive stuff there"?
No, actually it's not funny. Because it keeps happening:
1. a new shiny startup does X in an open source but centralized way
2. a lot of "experts" saying how great it is; some greybeards warn that it's centralized but nobody listens - it's so shiny and cool!
MNT Reform (open hardware laptop) campaign is live: https://crowdsupply.com/mnt/reform
And here's the Launch Announcement:
Thanks to everyone who helped and supported us to make this happen.
...can you imagine if users (especially commercial users) gave even just a fraction of money and effort and attention to support those already very capable Free projects how much more polished they could become! Can you imagine if companies established their own #Jitsi or #BigBlueButton servers and donated even half the cost of a professional Zoom subscription how much more robust and secure virtual meetings would be!
Stop supporting horrible Silicon Valley rentiers already!
People pay Adobe hundreds or thousands a year and complain bitterly about it, but keep doing it because the Free stuff is inferior. Yet because the likes of #inkscape and #glimpse and #shotcut are Free and made by volunteers instead of corporations they somehow deserve nothing!
ERP systems are even worse...customers pay $1000 plus $100/user each month just to run Oracle Netsuite, then they still pay a small fortune to "consultants"! Yet the Free #Tryton gets relatively little attention...
Today's fedi-convos have been interesting but have me wondering about general public's attitudes towards Free software.
Like...hey I *can* use it "gratis" so that means I'm "entitled" to use it for free, including getting updates and support...even I'd I have the means to pay.
You have the right to use Free software at no monetary cost. This does NOT let you abdicate your responsibility to take care of your own systems. Read the license. NO WARRANTY.

Elon Musk isn't an innovator, he's a copycat fraud!
Behold the *original* electrified triangular transportation!
One of the things on my wish list would be a network of federated systems/platforms owned and controlled by workers and small business end users that could replace and eliminate the centralised gig economy platforms we currently have.
Because honestly UBER and all the rest of them are pretty shitty and are damaging to our economy.
I'm really digging this #aNONradio weirdness right now 🤣
...I mean, how long before our luck runs out? All things considered I don't think I want to tempt fate and risk being done in by "a really bad cold".
I grew up being fed chemically augmented processed food courtesy of the miracles of modern science.
We rode around completely unrestrained in the back of station wagons and pickup trucks.
We regularly walked several blocks to the dairy queen to get ice cream completely unsupervised.
We rode our bikes without helmets.
When we went camping we entertained ourselves by throwing lawn darts at each other.
How did we ever survive?
