Hey devs, please use semantic html. This is important!

When listing things, use ul/li! When writing things, use p! When adding navigation, use nav! When putting the main part of your website inside a div, use main! Please use h1, h2, h3 for your titles! Don't use table for layout, they are for data!

Screen readers users have shortcuts to jump to all those parts of your website instead of reading it from top to bottom. But it only works with semantic html. So please help them! :tealheart:

Woke up this morning to no internet (sorry to the local users here--was my ISP's fault) and had to further my cellular data to do my work stuff.

Then I had to faff with my USB key to get on the work VPN which didn't want to work like normal

Then I noticed that the nginx reloads weren't working on the servers at work when the certs expired yesterday.

I hate technology today.

My instance is now on 3.2.0 and it seems to be running normally.

Mastodon perfectly named. It is a big heavy hairy beast :blobcheeky:

The only thing left is to see if that new feature works where it emails you a token if you have 2FA disabled and have logged in after being inactive or from a new location/device...but I can't see why that wouldn't work since I fixed my email after migrating off docker awhile back.

Aiming to upgrade my mastodon instance in the morning (UTC-6 -- heads up my local peeps). Any gotchas people know about?

All this conversation about setting up little experimental mobile code javascript applets that you can share around with @natecull reminded me that slingcode exists and is pretty neat

It is one of those days where I consider if getting an air conditioner might be a worthy investment.

Stop Bad Laws Before They Start

Right now, there’s a proposal to essentially prevent you from flashing your own firmware/software to any product with a radio in it before the European Commission. This obviously matters to Europeans, but because manufacturers often build hardware to the strictest global requirements, it may impact everyone. What counts as radio equipment? Everything from WiFi routers to wearables, #SDR dongles to shortwave #radio.

How did I miss this guy? Not only a fairly popular local YouTuber he also recently got the same kind of travel trailer that I have!

Also I think @ink_slinger got one of those trailers at some point too?

"I've only ever struggled with docker as a dev, it might be a nice change of pace to struggle with it as a sysadmin."
- me, just now

I can't leave well enough alone so I booted my from a SD card :blobcheeky:

Not quite as smooth as but maybe more functional. Either way I could make and receive voice calls and SMS and use a web browser right out ofthe box so probaby good enough to be my regular phone already LOL

First toot from my new (over WiFi)

UBPorts is more refined than I expected! Of course there is work left to do but not bad. I will explore it a bit before trying and other OSes.
