It seems like only yesterday when it was 1500000000 where has the time gone?

This is super cool!

@SexyCyborg collaborated with and @wjsteele@twitter.com to make an affordable with a conveyor belt for a print bed!

So let me see if I have this right...

Labour day was created on North America so that workers could spend a day off work so they could labour at home and get their households ready for autumn and winter in advance. That way they can free up time to put more hours in at work leading into the Christmas shopping season.

Have I got it right?

The installers came to replace the big window on the front of my house today and I just realised that it is also 21 years ago today that I bought this house.

Heck time flies but also happy birthday house I guess!

This is a remarkably honest version of the Political Compass

...and there is probably one thing even more evil than gluing/soldering the cells into devices: battery controllers with DRM built in. Yes, just like how printer makers were putting electronics in their ink cartridges preventing refills. Some devices and battery packs have self destructing charge controllers that stop working when the input voltage goes too low to prevent 3rd party cell replacement.

I know. Liability blah blah blah. That is the excuse. The real reason is planned obsolescence.

For all the amazing progress in battery tech there has been a very serious regression: the abandonment of standard retail/consumer sizes:

The comments are mostly typical YouTube tech-bro of course: lots of "just buy 18650 or pillow cells from Alibaba, rip the old battery apart and put in the new cells". No. Just no. Yes Fran has the ability to do that but I'm sure she'd rather spend that time doing her actual projects, and few other people are even able to...

I bought a Dremel™️ accessory kit and I think I'm gonna need my Dremel™️ to get it open for the first time.

oh my god check this out

this just might be the coolest thing i have seen in my entire life

Hmm...so running `apt update && apt upgrade` and rebooting made phone calls come back again on :blobtonguewink:

Imma gonna leave it like this for awhile and just *use* my Free/open fondleslab for a change. Maybe think of some app ideas since @thatgeoguy asked before. Maybe a fitness tracker for when I go jogging would be nice...hmm...

I'm back on my BS again this weekend. Tried out a few more OSes and tried installing to internal flash. Wifi, LTE data and SMS Just Work™️ with everything. Ironically voice calls are the trickiest thing to get working on this "phone" 😂

Was beginners' luck having calls work initially without effort I guesd. but I'm still learning and having fun.

"A federated, decentralized system of free associations ... seems to be the appropriate form of social organization for an advanced technological society in which humans do not have to be forced into the position of tools, of cogs in the machine."

Hey devs, please use semantic html. This is important!

When listing things, use ul/li! When writing things, use p! When adding navigation, use nav! When putting the main part of your website inside a div, use main! Please use h1, h2, h3 for your titles! Don't use table for layout, they are for data!

Screen readers users have shortcuts to jump to all those parts of your website instead of reading it from top to bottom. But it only works with semantic html. So please help them! :tealheart:

Woke up this morning to no internet (sorry to the local users here--was my ISP's fault) and had to further my cellular data to do my work stuff.

Then I had to faff with my USB key to get on the work VPN which didn't want to work like normal

Then I noticed that the nginx reloads weren't working on the servers at work when the certs expired yesterday.

I hate technology today.
