I remember hearing the talk of how JJ Abrams might retcon stuff in RoS. But I'd mostly forgotten that by the time I actually watched the movie and was just happy to have the Skywalker nine-ology wrapped up.
And, sure, it was definitely not my favourite Star Wars movie, but it was mostly fine. It was "good enough."
But the more I think about it, the more I realize it was written by people who actively hated TLJ and the screenplay was just "phew, the sacred texts are OK"
@keithzg Probably the worst thing about this newest trilogy is that it was planned as a trilogy from the start, so they should have had an overall arc planned, even if the individual screenwriters and directors might have put their own twists on it. But it's incredibly clear that they didn't.
I also think RoS should either have been 3 hours long or broken into two movies. There's not reason it *had* to be a trilogy.
