Had a team call today where our CEO told everyone to rely on their family and try to enjoy that time while we're all stuck working remote.

Yeah bud I live alone in a foreign country I'll keep that up eh. 🤷🏻‍♂️😐

@thatgeoguy those in the C-Suite can have remarkably limited vision, even if they might have genuinely good intentions. Lots of assumptions are made when a person has lives so long as a financially secure white man living in a nice house and surrounded by family.

I know it isn't even close to the same but you can be part of the fediverse family!

Or...not...😬 🤣

@msh well, perhaps my message was too strong. That said our CEO is neither rich nor white, but yeah the message still bothered me. Normally I wouldn't care, but isolation is getting to me. 😔

@thatgeoguy totally understand. I shouldn't make assumptions about CEOs either I suppose. Regardless it seems to be a challenge to widen the perspective.

I've been in the situation during holidays and such where I've been away/alone, and it's tough. This is tougher.

I'm trying to keep up my spirits too since I can't see dad in the hospital due to severe restrictions on visitation. He figured out how to video call me on his tablet today which cheered me up a bit though!

@msh mm, sorry to hear that you can't see your dad through all this. It's good that he can get video chat and internet access while he's hospitalized though, I'm sure he appreciates that at least.

And yeah, this whole thing is much tougher. As much as I'm irritated for myself I'm just hoping I don't lose sight of myself and make sure my friends are doing well too.
